After its brilliant launch last week, the second show in the Bacardi B-Live series is the truly tantalising prospect of Hot Chip (DJ Set), Bugz in the Attic and DJ Mehdi on April 8th

Next in the series: May 6th with Tony Allen, Mr Scruff, Afronova and Low B

The Bacardi B-Live Series, which launched in the POD last weekend, is set to funk up Bank Holiday Sundays in the city forever. Drawing an eclectic mix of music through collaborations of world class DJ's, musicians, live vocalists and percussionists, the B-Live Series will fuse its legendary festival atmosphere with the intimate party vibe of the POD.

Firmly established as a must-see on the Irish festival circuit, Bacardi B-Live continues its commitment to showcasing leading international and local artists with the launch of the Bacardi B Live series.
The Bacardi B-Live Club Series has established itself as one of the most unique club experiences around the world and is now set to become a fixture on the calendar here taking place every Bank Holiday Sunday across three rooms in Dublin's premiere club setting.

Taste a classic such as Bacardi, Coke and fresh lime or sip Ireland’s favourite festival cocktail, the legendary Mojito.

The Barcardi B-Live Series will add a legendary dash of vibrant Latin spirit to create a mouth-watering cocktail of fluid beats, dancing feet and the best rum in town.

PERFORMING IN APRIL
HOT CHIP:
‘The Calling’ which was Hot Chip’s second album released in 2006 was unanimously answered by a swelling contingent of fans. Infectious beats, bleeps, grooves and lyrics all made up the finest concoction of pop about. “We decided to write folk songs and record them on old synthesizers. We decided to sing honest words about food and love, and try to make people laugh the way you laugh at Richard Pryor in the same song too,” claim the band. Finding out the tracks that have influenced them and that they’ve been picking up on the road amidst the madness of a dancing like a wild thing to ‘Over and Over’ should make it a memorable night.
BUGZ IN THE ATTIC:
When Gilles Peterson, the doyen of BBC DJs, decided ‘Booty La La’ was his Worldwide single of the year in 2005, we knew Bugz were on to something special which was fully realized in their debut last year ‘Back in the Doghouse’. Orin ‘Afronaught’ Walters, Paul ‘Seiji’ Dolby, Kaidi Tatham, Daz-I-Kue, Alex Phountzi, Cliff Scott, Mark Force and Matt Lord certainly create tunes that make an audacious statement, but behind their mighty façade is a bunch of nonchalant, occasionally chaotic musicians with a natural knack for producing quality dance music. Expect an abundance of Booty if you provide the La La.

DJ MEHDI:
Signed to label du jour ‘Ed Banger Records’, DJ Mehdi is a true blue, white and red blooded Parisienne. Mehdi dropped his debut album ‘Lucky Boy’ last autumn and is fortunate to have the likes of Chromeo and Kenny Dope from Masters At Work providing vocals and remixes to the first single lifted from it ‘I am Somebody’.
DJ Mehdi has been producing major french Hip-hop artists since 1995 while making great noise (and platinum albums) with his bands Ideal J and 113, remixing various electronic acts and composing soundtracks for many french and international films. His resumé mentions collabos with the largest scope, from MC SOLAAR to DAFT PUNK, CASSIUS, JOAKIM, or SUPER DISCOUNT, globe-trotters NEW YOUNG PONY CLUB, JUST JACK or ARCHITECTURE IN HELSINKI plus legends like FUTURA2000 and RYUICHI SAKAMOTO.

SHOCK DJs supporting Hot Chip :

Shock started off as a small side project but has quickly become much more, spearheadedby DJ and graphic designer Jon Averill, Shock has become a brand associated with eclectic but dancefloor friendly parties.

They've already ran shows like the Shock'd event which was attended by over 800 people & mixed DJ performances with live illustration by graphic designers and graffiti artists as well as live painting in ultraviolet light sensitive markers.Recent Shock gigs in Dublin include, in association with Pod Concerts, Datarock, Chicks On Speed (DJ Set), Fujiya & Miyagi, The Filthy Dukes and A Certain Ratio.

SPACE CAMP DJs supporting Bugz in the Attic : Space Camp started when Philth + Stephen Manning decided after one or two drinks that it was about time to put on a night to play the music they liked. Quite simple really. So far we have seen the likes of Morgan Geist, Bill Brewster, Prins Thomas, Pete Herbert, Claude Von Stroke, Phil Mison, Todd Terje, Shit Robot and Dancepig play at our club. To join in the fun, simply send a lovely email to [email protected] . As a Space Cadet, you will receive infrequent electronic letters with invitations to secret Space Camp events, such as lunar picnics, seances and shuttle missions. You will also receive special exclusive ticket deals for upcoming gigs. Space Out.

CHOICE CUTS DJs supporting Mehdi :Choice Cuts presents a bonafide hip hop funk reggae soul rock jazz disco and vinyl culture affair - true school djing at its best. Recent and forthcoming shows include the Rootical Sound System and Big Daddy Kane. Choice Cuts presents DiG every Friday night in the POD.
