Bop Gun & Enthusiastic Eunuch are proud to present The Space Lady, one of the most fascinating & cherished figures in outsider music, embarking on her first world tour over 35 years since she first confused & enthralled San Franciscan passers-by.
The Space Lady began her odyssey on the streets of San Francisco in the late 1970s, playing versions of contemporary pop music on an accordion while dressed flamboyantly like a sort of cosmic Moondog & transmitting messages of peace and harmony. Following the theft of her accordion, The Space Lady invested in a Casio keyboard, birthing an otherworldly new dimension to popular song that has captured the imagination of the underground and beyond ever since. If you could imagine an intergalactic Vashti Bunyan taking lead vocals on a Silver Apples record you'd be halfway there.
The legend of The Space Lady has continued to grow in the 21st century. Originally featured on the landmark 'outsider' compilation "Songs In The Key Of Z," then on mixes by Erol Alkan and John Maus, this music has transcended genre, style and fashion, opening up hearts and minds along the way.
