just under 13 months ago i baught an airport express base station. it worked perfectly until yesterday when it just stopped. it's not that is wasn't braodcasting the wireless signal, it simple died. no light (not the plug, i checked), no nothing. its completly dead. so i call apple this morning and get talking to someone in a land far far away over a very bad line. they tell me that in order to troubleshoot the problem i need to pay the €49. fuck that. so i had a think and rang them back over lunch this time getting through to some bloke in england. he aggreed that there was no point in troubleshooting a dead product but that unfortunalty as it was out of warrenty i had no comeback. so thats it. the wifes ipod lasted 2 years. our airport lasted less then 13 months. i have been a apple user for ages but i really feel that i'm being ripped off.

CUNTS!!!!!!

rant over.

Ring Apple in Cork direct.
Better bunch of humans.
Takes a lot for a cork person to be programed into faceless "support" people

yeah my ibook dropped dead at 11 months (phew) but shit went wrong with my first ipod around 14 months. One thing i will say is that they are good at timing!

i've written a letter. please read and suggest amendments. i'm going to send it to the cork plant.

Dear Sir/Madam,

On the 20th of January 2006 I purchased and Apple Airport Express Base Station from the Apple Ireland online store. On the 14th of February 2007 the base station ceased to work. It is completely unresponsive and will not power on when plugged in. The plug portion of the unit is functioning, as I was able to test it on one of my other apple products. The unit has not been mistreated in any way and was, up until the 14th of February, functioning perfectly. Apples online support pages offered no help.

On the 15th of February I called Apple phone support (1850 946 191) and was told that as it was (approx 3 weeks) out of warranty I had to pay €49 to troubleshoot the problem. As the product was completely unresponsive, troubleshooting would serve no purpose.

There can be little doubt that the fault is a manufacturing one. I repeat that the unit was not mistreated in anyway and was, up until the point of failure, working perfectly.

According to the SALE OF GOODS AND SUPPLY OF SERVICES ACT, 1980, the consumer should be offered a full refund or replacement if the product fails due to a manufacturing fault within what could be seen as the reasonable life expectancy of the good, regardless of warranty. 13 months certainly falls within the reasonable life expectancy of this product and so I would request my Airport Express Base Station be replaced.

is that a direct quote of the Act? if so, "" "". If not, i'd suggest quoting verbatim.

Are you sure it wasn't cork? The brother's missus works phone support there so i imagine they'd put you through to cork rather than another country. It could appear they're all "far far away" as almost none of them are irish - she's german and as far as i know, everyone else is either german, spanish or italian.
