Just been getting lots of invites from various contacts to join the No-to Video campaign on flickr.

Personally I'm pretty shocked at how angry people are about this given the huge proportion of crap..porn/screenshots of internet/tv etc stuff there is there already....

and loads of amazing inspiring stuff as well of course.

when I think of photos and video I think of stuff like this

which is awesome.

I find it weird that people that are interested in a medium that takes creativity can be so narrow-minded & elitist about it... the film vs digital... the b & w vs colour, why do people have such problems with embracing the entire scope of a medium?

What do you think? are you a purist? and why?

It's a business and they wanna make money, seems fair enough. I reckon the whole backlash/moaning is elitism at its finest and I've no time for it.

Only problem I have is that video clips are limited to 90 seconds which is way way way too short.

yeah a few people mentioned the 90 second thing. I reckon it's a trial version and if successful they'll increase it. i'm actually annoyed cause lots of contacts whose photos are so creative and that I love keep sending me this no-to-video things.
people are such a disappointment sometimes.

I presume people want to keep flickr photo only to avoid clicking on a great looking picture and getting some random video. That and the "it starts with video" angle. I'm 50% meh about it, but i would like to see flickr photo only, there's shitload of video sites already, and flickr works so simply and perfectly i'd hate to see them dilute it and ruin it. Still, let 'em at it.
