We had the F18 flight simulator, so complicated to control. Player Manager was our football game of choice, but Sensible Soccer was also great.

Ports Of Call was deadly. I loved my Amiga 500.

When the Amiga 1000 was first available here (1986) it was around IR£2,500, including a colour monitor. To put that in context, two years later the weekly dole payment for a single person was IR£45.20.

Hunter, Zak McKraken, the aforementioned Player Manager, Frontier: Elite 2, Stuntcar Racer, the New Zealand Story.....I could go on all night. There were so many odd games too. Really made a big impression on my young mind, I think. I have an Amiga 500 in the attic, I need to get it down and get it going again.

I would have thought you'd be buiser Squiggle than posting in an Amigastalgia thread! :)

Yeah, should be, but it looks like this kid's in no hurry...

Elite 2: Frontier was amazing. We loved our Amiga(s), at one stage we had 4 for some reason (2 x 500's, one 600 and one 1200). All but one were bought second hand.

My (brother's) A1200 is right beside my PC. I should get her going again. Frontier: Elite 2 is/was amazing. I wonder what modern games are similar. Presumably now they have all that multiplayer jazz. Colonization was great too. Graftgold and Team 17's output was gear fab too.

Here Pete (etc.) d'ya remember a magazine called Ace from late '80s, like a proto-Edge?

I must unearth the copies we have. They had reviews that had 3 or 4 digit scores but interestingly and more usefully they had a predicted interest curve.
They also had a feature about how CDi and hyperlinked CD roms were going to take over the world.
