mmm i checked and i think its listed as feb 08.. but i that might be uk version or something..

edit: yeah 2007 in states and 2008 in uk.. also pitchfork gave it 6.6 what the fuck?
I really can't wait for cass' new album. he played most of it at the whelans and it was sublime.

ok so off the top of my head, stuff that impressed me this year, bearing in mind I'm gonna forget loads of them, are...

Why? - Alopecia

Atlas Sound - Let The Blind Lead.....

Deerhunter - Microcastle

Melvins - Nude With Boots

Giveamanakick - Welcome To The Cusp

Jape - Ritual

kind of a return to listening to more melodic stuff for me. finally got around to listening to loads of stuff i'd missed over the years like loadsa "stoner" and grindcore stuff.

EDIT: oh yeah High Places album was lovely too! And the Animal Collective EP too!

anna jarvinen - jack fick feeling cd (hapna)

Thanks for that recommendation. Deadly record.
My favourites:
Deerhoof - Offend Maggie (Yay! Return to form!)
Anna Järvinen - Jag Fick Feeling
This Is The Kit - Krülle Bol
Pokett - The Peak
Meshuggah - ObZen
Tenniscoats & Tape - Tan Tan Therapy (maybe 2007?)
Eddie Marcon - There is a Face/Kao Ga Aru
Katie Kim - Twelve

The new one from Uzi & Ari, Headworms, is pretty nice. I've just given it one listen but I like what I hear thus far. Nice tunes.

Ari and Uzi?!

I too am looking forward to that Uzi and Ari gig.
To be honest, I hadn't heard of them before the gig was announced but it turns out they're class.

Yeah, Uzi And Ari are cool. I got into them about a year or so ago, that last album is class. got the new album but haven't had a listen yet.

Don't get too many new albums really but Bon Iver's is fantastic, The Walkmen one ain't bad, Fleet Foxes v.nice, Jape's was a little disappointing to be brutally honest (though I love Jape), Why? are growing on me, and Little Dragon has an amazing singer.

Sorry kids but these times just don't come near the early 1980's for new sounds, not to mention the 1990's.
There's always next year I suppose. Waiting to hear the new Dinah Brand record and my own one...

I listen to old Iron Maiden, AC/DC and Thin Lizzy albums exclusively,
so I'll just go for Adebisi Shank's release.

What about Disfear Live the storm?

Mine:

The Devil and the Sea - Heart vs Spine
Disfear - Live the Storm
Moutpiece - s/t
Harvey Milk - Life: the best game in town
Seadog - Wizards of the Coast

Honourable mention goes to Earthless live at Roadburn as I haven't got a chance to have some quality time with it yet.

I've been giving this a bit of thought
