About The Festival
The Airbound festival is back for it’s 4th outing – previous incarnations having taken place in Berlin, the Croatian village of Petrcane & more recently we’ve made London our regular home for the festival.
For those who've not been to an Airbound party those who have will tell you it's the gregarious atmosphere created at the events that make them so special & are the reason Airbound has built up a loyal following, selling out in advance every year & in 2013 we have our biggest Airbound yet planned.
Our launch party for 2013 recently took place featuring Mister Saturday Night (NYC) & Slow Hands (Wolf & Lamb) & with over 60% of advance tickets already gone we're now able to confirm our line-up….
This Year's Event
Headlining the event & playing a special 3hr set at our after-party is Optimo, represented by JG Wilkes. Along with JD Twitch, Jonnie Wilkes is the driving force behind one of the world's most revered club nights; 'Optimo Espacio', which came to the attention of those beyond their Glasgow faithful with their 2004 How To Kill The DJ (Part Two) Mix CD & the guys have been in demand all over the world ever since. The duo brought their Sunday night residency to a close in 2010 and have each gotten involved in new productions projects since. But rather than shut the book on Optimo, Twitch & Wilkes have begun a new chapter and bringing their sound farther and farther afield.
This year's festival proper kicks off on Friday 29th March with a 4 hour night cruise down the Thames on the stunning Dixie Queen Paddle Steamer, a luxurious replica of a 19th century Mississippi Paddleboat. After previous sell-outs we’ve searched high & low until we found London's largest party-ready vessel & the centrepiece of Airbound 2013.
When we dock the party will then move a short distance to a stunning nearby warehouse location until the early hours with Jonnie Wilkes playing a 3hr Set for us alongside the Airbound crew & a live set from Dublin based up & comers White Collar Boy who were recently invited to play live at Berlin's legendary Berghain as well as being snapped up by management agency Primary Talent. We'll be adding a few more acts to the bill shortly. There'll also be a secret after-after party for those with the stamina.
On Sunday 30th (after a day of rest) we'll be hosting a party at the Horse & Groom featuring Château Flight + The House of Disco DJs, Way Back Here DJs, Bixon DJs, Lasermagnetic DJs, a live set from Londonderry producer Shocko, Airbound DJs & more to be added. This event will be free till 19.30 (or until the venue reaches capacity) & will run to till 4am.
