After a successful first Goulash Disko in March, we just ordered a second round for everyone! All Disko PARTYzani unite and join us April 15th at the Twisted Pepper stage for another evening packed full of crazy music, Balkan food and drinks, bellydancing, and great fun with friends and strangers alike...
The price at the door will be 15e, but we will have a 10e cheaplist again - write cheaplist on the FB event wall along with names of friends you want to bring, or send us a message via Facebook to put you on the list. The dresscode for the evening is Balkan, Gypsy, Oriental... i.e. colorful dresses and skirts for the gals, gold chains and open shirts for the chaps Nobody gets penalized for not dressing up, but we will be serving free Balkan drinks and food again and those looking like they're from the Balkans will get priority (it is their native food and drink right?
Serving us music from Balkan Brass and Gypsy Punk to Electro Swing and Bollywood Funk are our resident Yabe Chan and Balkan Beats guru Dj Sacha Dieu who's coming all the way from London to entertain you!
DJ SACHA DIEU
www.myspace.com/sachadieu
Co-founder and resident dj at "Stranger than Paradise", the notorious Gypsy Burlesque monthly event in London, Sacha is reputated for being one of the pioneers and specialists of Gypsy / Balkan Beats and World Music in the UK. Amongst other dates this year, he'll be djing in support of the "Balkan Brass Battle", the hottest event in the Balkan Gypsy music calendar, when Fanfare Ciocarlia and Boban i Marko Markovic Orkestar come head to head to see who blows hardest and best. He's organising the after party too! Here are some of the bands he's djed alongside in the past : Mahala Rai Banda, Ivo Papasov, Eugene Hutz (Gogol Bordello), KAL and more recently Roots Manuva, Trojan Sound System and Jerry Dammers (The Specials). Festivals he's performed at : Glastonbury, Bestival, Electric Picnic, Glade and Isle of Wight.
He'll be making his debut in Ireland’s capital on April 15th, so expect a unique mix of Balkan Beats, Transnational Bass and plenty of surprise treats!!!
YABE CHAN
Considering she comes from Croatia, Yabe Chan started DJing in the most unlikely place - Japan. After exploring different parts of the world including Germany and the Balkan countries, she settled in Dublin as the Goulash Disko resident DJ. She is a big fan of anything bass, but as a born and bred Balkanian is no stranger to the regions eclectic music, and will start the ball rolling with more traditional sounds spiced up with the occasional heavy bassline - she likes to mix things up which is reflected in the meaning behind her name - yabai is Japanese slang that can be used for both something amazing and something awful -> which one it was, you tell us!
We have also invited the beautiful dancers from Apollonia for some bellydance action to inspire you on the dancefloor!
See you there! OPA!
