Hope you land somewhere better man. Sorry to hear it.

+1 on this. I would say with a lot of confidence that this is you getting in your own way and any interviewer at a minimum won't care that you're going for it again and as has been pointed out they might be impressed with the progress that you've made towards being better suited to the role...

Well, I run the business, so a bit of both.

More valuable then I'd hoped. That's my salary covered for about 10 weeks I reckon.

Weird interaction with a client today. We'd generally act as a subcontractor to them, and they are a sub-contractor to a sub-contractor ... and so on and so on. E-mail from client. "Had an e-mail in from *final client* saying that a pallet of *items that we sell and install* has been left on...

The problem comes when you're in the happy position of being "busy" already and there is still the same amount of work to be done, which takes an inflexible amount of time, in less available time. I suppose the argument there is that if your company is in the happy position of being that busy...

I was thinking mostly in terms of physical work jobs. Often with those "extra productivity" AKA finishing and handing over quicker doesn't involve working harder/taking less breaks but instead cutting corners and not completing to a decent standard. Often I say that the solution to most...

Some jobs take the amount of time they take. The 4 day, same money-same productivity week smacks a wee bit of a bonus for unproductive office types. The same way that removing traffic from the city centre is a thing for people who don't need to transport literal tonnes of tools and equipment...

Had to do a team meeting for work when I was on holiday recently because the guy I needed to talk to was on holiday the week before. Tried to call yer man on the phone just now for a word, he's on holiday again this week. Lot to be said for being a cog in the big machine as opposed to whatever...

I still haven't heard back from these fuckers. I'm going to do the same with a follow up reminding them that I'm going on holiday from Tuesday for the remainder of the week

Well, It's not quite that but I could empathise with your brother. I just fear it's bad news and it'd fuck my shit up to receive it. Trying to keep my evening somewhat enjoyable.

Been waiting all day for an e-mail over a difficult situation. Quite impatient about it. However if I receive it now there's a good chance it'll ruing my entire fucking evening and cause another night of little to no sleep. Might just shut down my mail client now.

I once overpaid a bill to fedex by a factor of 10 by accidentally adding a zero to the total. As in the bill was for something like 1150 and I paid them over 11 grand.

On this, I wonder if the company that owns the site will try to talk "efficiencies" with the staff when/if they come back.

We are a supplier to Tara Mines so today's announcement isn't great news. Even worse for the 650 people laid off from it. Decent jobs too, strong union presence in there.

Bit like HR I suppose, you go in thinking that you'll be the bridge between the staff and management, then you discover that your job is to protect and cover for your bosses while they screw over the employees.

Delighted for you that you've built things up to the stage where you're able to do that. Fair play, well done dude.

A lot of my clients are in hospitality so I get stuff from them as all sorts of mad times. Fuck 'em if they want a response outside 9-5 Mon-Fri, TBH outside 10-5 in reality I try to take that first hour for figuring out what I'm doing with my day.
