Skippy Dies - Paul Murray, author, reading this Friday

Hi folks, Has anyone read ‘Skippy Dies’? I bought a copy when I heard about the author reading taking place but to be honest I got a bit daunted when I realised that it clocks in at 661 pages and I reached for the comics when I was reading over the weekend. It was a very well received book...

Kevin Barry - Author Reading, Friday in the Central Library

Did anyone go along? I did and really enjoyed it. He read a bit from chapters one and two (great voice for the accents) and talked a little about how he came to write it, the state of the novel, how long form fiction is best done on television these days and then read from a non fiction peice he...

Kevin Barry - Author Reading, Friday in the Central Library

Has anyone been reading 'City of Bohane' by Kevin Barry? (not the dead 18 year old who "gave his young life for the cause of liberty" but the short story and travel writer recently published in the New Yorker). I'm nearly finished and reckon its pretty deadly. "Forty years in the future. The...

Best way to lose a beer belly...

Yeah it seems there isn't much you can do about it except maybe try a route / company that'll take slightly longer to go up so that you have a better chance of acclimitising (sic) - we switched from a 5 day to a 6 day route for this reason. I'll pm you the link to my 3 hour powerpoint snoreathon...

Best way to lose a beer belly...

I'm flying out this Friday! - on a giddy in work and being a bit nervous buzz at the moment. More on topic though I agree with others that diet is at least as important as exercise - if you don't eat shite you don't have to work it off. That said a bit of exercise makes looking after you're...

Phones that you can go on the internet with

I have the N95 from nokia and think its great. Biggest downside would have been the lack of something like the iphones App Store. They're orted that out now and if i was buying a new phone i'd get the N97 - great camera, internet ready, etc etc
