[Sunday Business Post] Irish music industry hit by downloading

Well said. My own take on it is that people are consuming more music than they used to...but, the amount of money they spend on music has dipped. i.e. every downloaded freebie mp3 is not a sale lost. In other words, if illegal downloads stopped tomorrow, music sales wouldn't suddenly jump to...

can we make it legal to spit at iphone users in public?

Fair point. On a positive note, I suppose the iPhone will be very useful when out and about....the iphone serves as a perfect and very visible warning sign to avoid talking to intellectually challenged idiots or iLemmings.

can we make it legal to spit at iphone users in public?

No I didn't and you make a very good point. Shame on me. Minor pedantic note though: iphone users don't own the iphone. Apple does. That is despite people paying through the nostril for it and then paying through the other nostril for another 2 years because you're locked into a 2 year telco...

can we make it legal to spit at iphone users in public?

I know people who buy iphones are probably dumb, subscribe to the paris hilton school of sensibilities & self-esteem and probably deserve sympathy...but, I cannot think of a more annoying icon of materialism in contemporary culture. just sayin, like.

They just published those results...interesting stuff. £3.88 was the average and the irish come out of it okay with an average of £4.45. http://www.whatpricedidyouchoose.com/survey_results the survey got 5,000 submissions so it's only a rough guide more than anything else. Particularly liked...

Waiting for ODDO (to go ballistic)

YouTube - James Oddo - Get the f*** out of my office Youtube clip of a US politician getting so wound up by a cute norwegian blonde he threatens to, ahem, 'kick the fucking shit out of them' (them being the film crew + norwegian blonds) and tells them, on numerous occasions to 'get the fuck out...

totally agree re: Nick Drake. Anyone spot the nod to "Shes A Rainbow" by the Stones? heard a news report about the http://www.whatpricedidyouchoose.com In Rainbows price survey yesterday on the BBC (5 Live) . Paul Scaife, from Record of the Day was interviewed and he said that the average...

It's plausible that warners might be bidding for the license for In Rainbows the (traditional) CD version...which is due out early 2008 apparantly. The general rule of licensing thumb is that Warners are great for the USA. not so good uk/europe and it's the opposite for EMI. Although, I'm not...

Let's have a debate about immigration

culture isn't something you can acculturate, as you put it. cultures evolve and falling into the same trap the British did would be a disaster. They started faffing about with the whole "who are we?", "what does it mean to be British?" etcetera. Can you imagine Irish politicans and civic...

Radioheads flicks the iFinger to iTunes

Yep. It certainly looks like it. Although, I'm not sure why there is such a long gap between the 10th oct. and a regular physical CD version being 'available in the shops' (2008). I don't think that means the discbox, it sounds like just a regular cd. Something for the labels to squabble...

    Web design for label/collective?

I don't have an answer on cost (It's a piece of string stuff with designers). I work with small labels and for a few years we used to get very uptight about the website designs and usually spent/wasted a lot of money on something that looked out of date within a few months. I'm not saying...

hmmm..iI hope you're not one of those apple lemmings/trolls who can't handle it when someone mentions anything mildly critical of the billion dollar corporation. I openly admit there's a certain schadenfreude watching iPhone customers demand a 'stupid tax' for paying way over the odds when it...
