    Some very strange films

The Peter Greenway flick? Not particularly; unless lots of gratuitous nudity and dwarf-pr0n is your thing... Speaking of high-class smut, Walerian Borocyzwk's films have been released on DVD. Altogether now: WOOHOO!

Big Time. "Eez a film about a man who kill wimmen". In the great man's words. According to the interview in the Extras section of "Santa Sangre", one of Jodorowsky's favourite films is going to be shown at the UGC Asia Extreme - "The Isle". It can't come recommended any higher, now, can it?

    Some very strange films

Yeah, its quite disturbing, but extremely well made. I think its a pity they only used the first part of Hoffmann's "The Sandman" (easily available online), but then I suppose its very, very loosely based on it. I would have loved to have seen the now-grown up, traumatised kid dancing around...

True. Interested parties can check .pdf file properties in File-> Document Properties-> Security. This will tell you whats allowed/prohibited etc. Still, beats buying and lugging books around.

    Black Strobe Wednesday Night

Anyway, enough time wasted on nonsense; gig's on, should be good etc. etc.

    Black Strobe Wednesday Night

That's rich coming from a man who thinks recording 78's to tape is hi-tech.....:D

    Black Strobe Wednesday Night

On in Crawdaddy, Wednesday night, something like €14. Sleazy French electronica somewhat reminiscent of Cabaret Voltaire mixed with strip joint techno. (In a good way...) All in all dancin' family fun.

Erh, unless you get free printing at work or something, its still cheaper to read them on the computer/palm thingy etc, the downside being the opthalmologists bills later on... (Don't attempt the complete works of Shakespeare without medical supervision, it could cost you your sight, and then...

Hands up who likes The Jimmy Cake!

Saw them live twice; second time was to make sure that this was the right band, after hearing their praises sung to high heaven. Unfortunately, it was... Some things are better left unsaid.

I don't try... I haven't got anything against them, and quite like *some* of their films. And, in case you hadn't read the first post; I said that such directors get enough coverage as it is, and that the thread aimed to let people interested in 'odd' films give recommendations on...

    Some very strange films

Imho, filmmakers like David Lynch, David Cronenberg & Peter Greenway are a bit too "commercial" for their own good, too self-consciously arty-farty. But then I'm probably saying this because I watched most of their films under the influence of an array of chemicals one summer long ago, and one's...

    Some very strange films

Polanski, what a plonker. Am I alone in thinking that his films (apart from Chinatown) are worse than his crimes against children? Actually, I only recently saw "Che?" ("What?"), and thought it was quite funny. Its a bit of a surreal sex comedy, a young, scantily clad nubile girrul winds up in...

    Some very strange films

Title says it all. Miike, Bunuel et al. get plenty of exposure as it is, so I thought I'd post some suggestions for the curious: And the nominees are: Alejandro Jodorowsky: The Holy Mountain, Santa Sangre, El Topo. Woijeich Has: The Manuscript found in Saragossa, The heroic tribulations of...

    Joe Orton

Get the F&F Collected Plays, you won't stop lauging from start to finish. The f9ilm version of "Entertaining Mr. Sloane" is very funny, and they even managed to make it more macabre than the original.
