I've had taxi drivers of all kinds who have had asshole-issues, so you're not really stepping on your own point. The guy was a prick. Basically, what Ro said: some of these people should just stop being taxi drivers. It's stressful to be driving around all day, so you need nerves of steel...

The we miss I is John thread

Can we lure him back somehow? It certainly is not the same without him.

Ha! I was in a taxi last night where the driver went straight from talking about the recession to "So, what do you think about this Nigerian woman and all her lies and deception?" and generally talking like he'd swallowed a hundred copies of the Sun. I explained FGM to him in graphic...

    School question

There's an organisation based on Lombard St in town, and they provide all kinds of materials to help families who want to raise their kids through Irish. I'm sure they would help get yer Irish up to scratch if you wanted to pursue that route. I can't remember what it's called, but I can find...

    School question

I only know from the perspective of someone who's dealt with some of the different schools, and there are some truly awesome state schools out there, and because the context involves programmes that generally only very motivated teachers would access, I've met more good ones than bad ones...

    Tea Gardens

It's about halfway up the block from the Morrison (toward the park), and down a spiral set of steps. It's loooooovely. The pots of tea are not cheap, but they're delicious and they're served properly. And the atmosphere is really worth it.

    Tea Gardens

Went to this place this evening. Amazing. Lovely tea and biscuits and lounging on cushions on the floor with shoes off. SRSLY. Go there. We need to make sure this place stays open because it's excellent. It stays open until 11 every night, too, which is great as a non-pub alternative.

Has a house ever caused you an illness?

If you put the body into a solution bath, you can turn it into a battery and save loads on your ESB. http://science.howstuffworks.com/body-generate-power.htm As for Ireland being allergenic, it's not even just that. Ireland's climate is something my body just can't adjust to completely. I get...

I'm enjoying Armando Ianucci's one. I like the Cwalken dude, even if it's probably not the real Christopher Walken. The Hobo Digest fucking rules. Everyone should follow the Hobo Digest and read the blog. http://www.hobodigest.com/ I just heard via twitter that they may have just arrested...

And who says romance is dead?

It's JACK and Marian, guys. Tom's AWAY, don't yiz know. I will pay TEN EURO -- and I mean this -- if people go down there with big placards that say, "BEST OF LUCK JACK AND MARIAN, YOU CUM GUZZLERS" and stand outside Jury's holding them. TEN FUCKING EURO. I'm unemployed, so that's a lot of...

And who says romance is dead?

Saw this on a trash can this evening. Someone should ring Jury's and leave a message for Marian from Tom. http://twitpic.com/2ft2i

Dresses – someone help the less fashion-ate.

Probably the top is meant to be a bit blousey? Because 40 inches?! BTW, keep in mind that until a couple of decades ago, women still wore a lot of corsetry and waist-cinching stuff. So a lot of the measurements of 50s dresses seem to suggest that everyone had a tiny waist, or they seem too...

...around as well, and while Dublin's vintage shops are a bit expensive, you can pick up some good-quality stuff. When Costume has a sale, they *really* have a sale. I've picked up amazing stuff in there for about 50 quid. I got a Temperley top marked down from about 500 and a bunch of Milly...

I will totally take you dress shopping if you want. Also will keep in mind that even though you want to cover your arms, you're going to want to cover them in a way that is okay for summer and will not make you sweaty during the warmer part of the day.
