to briefly resurrect this thread, my job have now started to send out 'good news pieces' by email. Basically spam to say that their service is now 5% faster, or some inconsequential detail no one will care about. And they think that sort of stuff will stop the haemorrhage of money out the door...

I went to see Ash when I was 16 and like me, most of the crowd were muppets waiting to bop to 'Girl From Mars'. The support act were Six By Seven (anyone remember them?) and with their post/noise-rock template , playing guitar with a bow etc they didnt go down too well. Halfway through a song...

Its a plain fact that if yo u want to play a good venue in Dublin city centre, then the band, or the promoter more often than not have to charge higher than €5 I'm afraid. someone said earlier that if you want to see a gig in a venue thats not a pub basically (i.e. better sound, better layout)...
