The 'Bands I don't Get' thread (1 Viewer)

I loved them when they came out. Had all the swagger of Rose Tattoo and Ac/dc. Proper blues rock based metal. Especially compared to the other LA glam metal bands of the time.
Then they went up their own arses. The video and legs spread guitar solo for November Rain killed it for me.
The live stadium gigs at the peak of their popularity make me cringe. Completely overblown. And his fucking shorts.
Although I still love the 1st album and the recorded footage of their gig at the Roxy but fuck me by the time Axl is doing the Freddy Mercury tribute concert it's horrendous.

What he said.

For me it was the racism, sexism and homophobia…and the fucking shorts.
Axl Rose had serious issues (abuse victim, addiction (inc. prescription drugs)) and multiple women accused him of serious violence.

As far as One in a Million goes you could say that about many bands.
I remember the day of the Freddie Mercury tribute concert an Asian guy appeared on Sky News saying a racist, homophobic band (G n R) shouldn't be on the bill.
He didn't mention Queen or Elton had both played Sun City in 1984.

I like Siouxsie and The Banshees early records but they have racist, orientalist, Islamophobic, antisemitic moments.
Arabian Knights is an amazing tune but the lyrics and video are awful.

Ozzy Osbourne or anything he was ever involved in

apart from was not was

admittedly I saw the osbournes tv show before I ever knew any of the music. After that I couldn't not hear his whiny speaking voice when I heard him sing.
I’m impressed you got that far in life without hearing Black Sabbath. To be honest, I don’t like anything from his solo years but Black Sabbath in their classic run were quite literally legendary.
