    Gibson vs. Feds

My personal conspiracy theory is that the Federal government are sick to death of the Les Paul/Marshall tone. Mark my words, tax on Marshall imports to the states will sky rocket shortly too.

how would one add a reverb tank?

You'll need an additional buffer and recovery stage for the reverb tank, being valve of SS. Ideally this would after the last stage of the preamp, just before the PI.

    200 - 300 euro studio monitors

I suggested the HS80s because they've an excellent low end response and wont require a sub.

    garageband reacharound

You mean the amp sims were worse than they currently are? The current program is excellent and definitely more than just a toy to experiment with but amp sims are unusable IMO, except maybe the cleaner models. The Mesa and Marshal are terrible.

    200 - 300 euro studio monitors

Is that €300 per pair or pair unit? If it's per unit then the Yamaha NS80Ms are very good. http://www.thomann.de/ie/yamaha_hs80m.htm?sid=49d49bbf6db47f112a2a3d90d44dca92 Even if it is per pair, it be worth saving the cash for them. They've an excellent low end response and don't require a sub.

New dual channel high gain amp build

Some of you may have seen my amp build thread. Well I've driving myself nuts for the past couple of weeks tweaking this and that, it's becoming hard to see the woods from the trees at this stage!! :) http://www.netmusicians.org/files/49-First%20amp%20demo%20classic%20rock.mp3 I'd really...

New dual channel high gain amp build

Just to clarify this. The clips are recorded using my sh*tty casio digital camera, the mike is in the pictures as I have done some recording using my Beta 57 and SM57. I'll post properly miked clips on my soundclick page later in the week later in the week. For now here's the first attempts...

    Looking into a new amp

Good man yourself!! OP, have you considered the like of a HT5 head from Blackstar with a decent 2 X 12? I know that you said no 5 watt mini amps but a pair of V30s (or an other decent, effiecient speaker) in a closed back cab will make a 5 watter head scream. I've gigged with a 5 watter...

New dual channel high gain amp build

Nope. Blackstar ISF varies power valve control. My switch reconfigures the tone stack from a fenderish to marshallish type. It's not unique or anything, the tone shit button on a DSL does something similar, though hopefully mine sounds better!! :) Cheers. It cost me around €350-€400 all in. I...

New dual channel high gain amp build

It my own design. I was looking for a Fendery clean and a cross of 5150/Dual Rec/SLO/JCM800 type OD. Both channels have gain, bass, mid, treb and volume. Each has and american/brittish voicing switch and gain boost switches. The channels are footswitchable as well as a panel for when you don't...

New dual channel high gain amp build

Here's some fresh new finished pics and videos of my new amp. The sawdust from drilling the chassis bolt holes is still in the corners!! :D Here's my new pedal board. The MXR and Carbon Copy are in the loop during the videos below. This first one is using my strat and messing with the...

    Vocalist wanted - Cork

To complete an existing line up of drums, bass and guitar. Our style is a blend of classic 70s rock, southern stylings and bits of metal thrown in for good measure. We're planning on a mix of covers and originals to get gigging as soon as possible, we've a number of existing tunes ready to go...
