Great insight dude.

I mean that the type of music generally reviewed is independent and relies on forums like this to get it out there. The movies are the other end of the spectrum.

Thanks

The difference I see is that lots of people that might like mostly independent music wouldn't generally like or seek out the most popular song of the day, but lots will gladly trundle along to see Planet Of The Apes or Lucy or even the fecking Lego movie. They don't just like Wes Anderson, Haneke and Von Trier. Some do. But not all, and not by a long shot.
People generally have different tolerances for populism in different art forms.

You could maybe balance the equation out and offer to write reviews for whatever's playing exclusively in the IFI. Bring your own great insight to the table.

aren't we all actually mainly into wanky art movies anyway though?

I dunno where to draw the line with movies.
I see art movies. I see blockbusters. I see everything in between.
What's Snowpiercer? Where do Christopher Nolan movies fit? Scorsese?

I don't know. I just dislike the idea of popular = bad and niche = quality.

On that subject there's a lot more "art" in the opening 15 minutes of the last Planet of The Apes movie than in most mumble core romantic comedies which seem to cash in their indie cred in order to hide the fact that they're one step away from having Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan in them.
