EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY
As well as playing themselves, Explosions In The Sky, have so far chosen Dinosaur Jr, Adem, And you will know us by the trail of the dead, Iron and Wine and Broken Social Scene to join them.
The Explosions in the Sky ATP is to take place at Butlins Holiday Resort Minehead, on May 16th – 18th.
Due to the specifications of the accommodation, there will be two prices for the tickets, £140 for Room Only accommodation and £150 for Self Catering accommodation both of which include free electricity.
Butlins Minehead looks out across a superb sandy beach. The new site not only has a supermarket, newsagent and cash points, it also has Burger King, Pizza Hut, Finnigan’s fish and chips, Sun and Moon, Skyline Café and Yacht Club Dining room. Onsite facilities include a cinema, Splash Water World - a sub-tropical environment that has a huge wave pool, a swimming pool, 3 flumes and also a flume based raft ride - Ten-pin bowling and amusement arcade. Sports include Archery, Football, Basketball, Darts, Petanque, Fencing, Kwik Cricket, Netball, Rounders, Table Tennis, Outdoor Bowls and Crazy Golf.
Room Only accommodation is available in 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 berths and offers either double, single or bunk beds with private bathroom and TV, but no kitchen facilities or lounge, more like a hotel room. (£140 + booking fee per ticket)
Self Catering accommodation is available in 4, 6 or 7 berths and offers private bathroom, full kitchen facilities and separate lounge area with TV. (£150 + booking fee per ticket)
All tickets include a 3-day festival pass and 3 nights accommodation. Ticket includes performances starting from mid-afternoon, with around 50 acts set to play live across the weekend. There are four pubs and DJ sets through till late, plus three nights in a self-catering apartment or room only accommodation all with private bathroom suites and TV’s.
Butlins Holiday Resort Minehead, Somerset , TA24 5SH is located near Taunton.
By road
Heading north the simplest route is to take the M5 to Taunton (Junction 25), then take the A358 and A39 to Minehead. Heading south on the M5, you can follow the signposts for the A39 from junction 24. Butlins Minehead Holiday Resort is just half a mile along the seafront road from Minehead town centre.

If you are travelling by train, the nearest main line station to Minehead is Taunton. A bus transfer service is operated by Southern National between Taunton Station and Minehead. This service is available at an additional cost. On Mondays to Saturdays, there's approximately an hourly service, with the last bus leaving Taunton Railway Station at 10:15 pm. On Sundays and Bank Holidays services run every 2 hours from 9:35 am - 9:35 pm. For general information call Southern National on 01823 272033. Please note that National Express coaches stop inside the main entrance.
Tickets for All Tomorrow’s Parties, Weekend Two can be purchased directly through www.atpfestival.com and are available in blocks of 2,3,4,5 or 6 Room Only accommodation and 4, 6 or 7 berth Self Catering accommodation.

Yeah but the Mars Volta chose amazing bands. I've no interest in EITS but if they choose good bands then great ...
 
The best Curators are bands who have loads of contacts and different interests. That why Shellac (even though I dont like em) were the best curators.

When you have guys brining a slew of bands that sound exactly like them and another load of hanger on friends then it just makes a fucking mockery of the whole thing.
 
Thurston Moore was definitely a great choice in curator. So were Dirty Three, Vincent Gallo & Chapman Bros.. The rest just kinds picked the same bands over and over again.
 
i don't quite get you. what are you saying now?

in the past it was a kind of honour to be asked curate. Like them or loathe them the likes of Sonic Youth, Tortoise, Mogwai, Shellac and Autechre are/were incredibly influential underground groups who had been plugging away for years. It was a nod of recognition. What have Explosions in the Sky done other than rip off some of the aforementioned curators?
