Legendary instrumental act Explosions In The Sky celebrate their 20th anniversary with special reissues of their definitive debut album How Strange, Innocence and "lost album" The Rescue available on vinyl for the first time, plus UK tour dates in February 2020.
Texas' Explosions In The Sky are - quite fairly - given the crown of instrumental music. Seminal, superlative, peerless, their records have resonated deeply with listeners across the world for many years.
The band formed as teenagers in Austin in 1999, and after a short self-release run of their debut album How Strange, Innocence, signed with Brooklyn's Temporary Residence Records. The multiple records, tours and soundtracks that followed have cemented their place at the peak of their genre.
This year sees Explosion In The Sky's 20th anniversary, and a reissue project centred on their debut LP and its first international vinyl release (a friend of the band's released 300 copies on his private label around the time of its first appearance). Temporary Residence are delighted to bring this treasured document of Explosions In The Sky ’s humble beginnings back into the world. The How Strange, Innocence Anniversary Edition has been beautifully remastered by Heba Kadry, with vinyl lacquers cut by Bob Weston, and packaged in an incredible full colour, heavyweight triple-gatefold jacket with matte varnish, heavyweight full-colour insert, and custom vinyl etching containing the charming story of How Strange, Innocence in the band’s own words. This is the definitive sound, look, and feel of the album that started one of the most inspiring and unique careers in modern underground music.
