my two cents on skrewdriver =

all skrewed up. a good punk rock record and also very highly influencial on alot of american oi! ie the templars. its not the best punk record you'll ever hear ,its not fuckin amazing ,or unique like alot of punks and skins ya meet say, and I have more than an inkling that people say this or perhaps belive this to make themselves sound outragous or cool-ly un-pc etc.

I like a fair bit of skrewdriver stuff "all skrewed up",I think "back with a bang" is really fuckin good , "Hail the new dawn"(dodgy album) has its moments too , obviously I dont make a habit of listening to them often because they're made by ignorent fascist fucks, but that doesnt stop em writing good tunes now and again!
Im a big boy and I know the difference between right and wrong

where I do have a problem is with P.c Punks who would automatically brand ya a nazi if they found out you listen to skrewdriver ,have absolutly no problem listening to the bad brains(who I love) who are a shower of just as ignorent homophobes , or N.W.A who i know alot of punks like( im a fan myself) are probably the biggest shower of ignorent chauvinists the planet has ever seen EZAY -MUTHAFUCKIN -E especially( how apt he died of A.I.D.S)

So I Have no problem with people thinking skrewdriver are rascist morons ,which they obviously were! but once people extend their moral high ground across the spectrum!

id agree with a lot of what you said there

as regards the greatness of skrewdivers early stuff I dont think its overrated at all- In fact when my band recorded out last EP we brought 'all skrewed up' along to let the producer guy know the low-fi , ballsy production sound we were after.

I think their early stuff owes a lot to great UK bands like the faces and the kinks

but then im currently listeing to Joe Maphis and Merle Travis so what do I know about punk

the production on all skrewed up is definatly a much copied and saught after sound , I love the fucking tube overdriven guitar sound on it, I still dont think its a spectacular record but the production is definatly a high point of it!
the amount of american bands goin for that sound now is unreal!

theyre great! but the cover of the skrewdriver song and now openly wearing their gear....Well ... you'd start to wonder...

I didnt see the pic you mention Conor- just a guy form the band Snix wearing one.

As much as I like Skrewdrivers early stuff their later shit is unforgivable. I'm sure The Veros would argue that they are an apolitical band and that Skrewdriver werent always a fascist band but theres too much water under the bridge in my opinion.
