Finalists in the FA cup qualify automatically if the winner is in a CL spot, meaning that two places in the league go into the EL because City won the League cup. So basically if Arsenal get to the final whoever they play will be in the EL.

Here's where it gets a bit weird though. From next season winning the EL gets you a place in the CL so conceivably let's say Everton or Spurs win the EL and finish 6th and Liverpool or Arsenal win the CL but finish 5th. Does that mean that 3rd place would only get you into the EL ? That'd piss Jose off no end wouldn't it ?

It's a ridiculous competition with way too many teams in it and the fact that Hull, Sheffield United or Wigan (no disrespect to them but seriously they won't have a chance) are going to qualify this season just devalues it a little further really.

Anyway rant over but, yes should United finish 6th they have to play in the EL regardless of who wins the FA cup.

Those Fulham and Middlesboro sides were class though.

Hull ? The teams in it now are the likes of Spurs, Fiorentina, Juventus, Benfica, Porto, Basel, Sevilla, Napoli, Lyon, Valencia, There's no way Hull could beat any of them. Look at the sides who've won it over the last few seasons Athetico, Chelsea, Porto and Shaktar. The competition is deeply flawed but the eventual winners are typically a quality side who usually do well in the CL when they get there. Fucking Hull ? It's fucking ridiculous, they're one step away from europe having beaten who exactly ? Boro, Southend, Brighton and fucking Sunderland ? It's fucking mind boggling.
