Friend? are a five piece instrumental outfit from Dublin, Ireland. Formed in late 2007, their sound has developed in to an original take on melodic and monstrous guitar driven post-rock, accompanied with pulsing electronic samples, atmospheric synthesized medleys, reinforced and led by haunting violin lines and an explosive rhythm section. Friend? are a band that are enviously passionate about the sounds they create.

The energy and frenetic movement of Friend?’s live performances make each of the shows unique and unmissable. 2010/11 has already seen the band tour the UK and Ireland, appearing alongside the likes of And So I Watch You From Afar, Monsters Build Mean Robots, Brontide, Shapes, Axis Of, Enemies, Kasper Rosa, Alright the Captain and many more. This mileage has already established the band amongst the hardest working bands on the circuit, and earned them a loyal audience.

Overhead, The Albatross are a six piece instrumental band who are more a kin to the more emotional side of instrumental music. Often compared and quickly retracted to Sigur Ros, The Album Leaf, 65 Days of Static. The similarities are obvious but the band take their influences and create music that sounds effortless, intense, unique with layers of sound which sets them apart from their peers.

We got together to write music together and that’s what we’ve been doing. We record everything ourselves and do our best to have fun writing, recording and playing live. We have played with some great bands from home and abroad and plan to tour next year. It’s been a good year for us in that we didn’t break up, we’re writing music and we’re still having the utmost fun while we’re doing it. We sound the way we do because that’s what came out when we started jamming. A more rigid and clinical way of writing may be needed, so might many a thing, like a cessation of typation, in this typation nation, see you lation. …Forever losing the run our ourselves.
O,TA – Joe, Luke, Vinny, Ben, Stevie, David.
