Going to pull the trigger and unfollow Rosie Holt. She has milked that one joke of hers so far into the ground. I haven't clicked on one in months.

seeing as this thread started off with Glinner, I saw some stuff where he doesn't seem to be doing so great from a mental health point of view.
Not really into some of the bollocks he came out with, but I wonder if the Twitter thing is a major cause of his apparent current problems.

Having said that, what do I know obviously, he might be grand. It had a troubling vibe to it though, and I guess even though I don't really do Twitter it's made me have a think about the damage that it can do to people.

Like, who's gained from the entire shouting match? What's been clarified or achieved? Increasingly entrenched opinions and people getting loads of outrage porn.

I thought on the like of Twitter etc you were supposed to have an insincere smile,or cry like nobody else is having as hard a time as you . So are they any different than most?

(I have no idea of any context for this)

He’s a case study in the ability of the internet to break human brains. Like he’s the Venom of that guy in the XKCD cartoon.

Dude could not leave it alone. Like the Serafanowicz’s (not googling it) had an intervention for him along the lines of “Dude, you are destroying your career, your marriage, and your life”
Still fucking kept at it.
Leaving the merits of his politics aside, he wasn’t even good at being a spokesperson for his cause.
I saw him on C4 News and he was a total, shambling mess.

He had no coherent way of trying to say what he was going to say – a classic example of someone who is stuck in an internet echo chamber and only wins arguments in their head.

Hard not to feel sorry for him on a human level. Poor prick.

ok. Yeah, I dunno where I saw him but I got the feeling that something have very seriously gone wrong.

Presumably he would have had a support network, people around him, financial space to fall back and get well. But he doesn't seem to have. It's hard to know if his slide into where ever he is now would have happened anyway, but I suspect it wouldn't have. So what about the countless poor fuckers who no one knows about, I guess.

Something very pernicious about Twitter, and Facebook maybe? Like they drive this outrage porn which leads to the destruction of people as a business model.

Sure this is it.

The internet – Twitter in particular – is full of these rage monkeys. A lot of lads that might have been fine, but ended up in some internet argument where they got taken to task or got owned by some troll.
Unable to handle the shame, the mockery, the abuse, the righteous anger of someone who disagrees with them.
Whatever it is, they’re changed forever by the confrontation. And they poison society in return.

There’s an argument to be made that the internet has truly fucked us.
