i'm a big dirty meat-eater these days but we're having a vegetarian round on xmas day (ironically she's bringing the ham) so i'm making a vegetable curry with cashews and coconut milk and ginger and spicy things. should be good.
having a vegan come to visit for a few days as well but he can do his own cooking while i get drunk and lech on him.

Big field Mushrooms , cooked either whole with some pesto on top in the oven, or slow fried in a bit of butter+ lots of parsley, heaven.
Baked lemony Aubergine...lemon rind, not juice +loots of salt and pepper...
Parsnip mash
Spuds in stereo
can't wait!

I'm making fried Portobello Mushrooms with melted Brie on warm/toasted Foccacia bread with Salad. Hopefully it'll hit the spot.

lads. You need to get yourselves some yams, wrap them in tinfoil, and fire them into the oven alongside what ever's in there.
Scoop it out, yummy. I just had them twice over the last two days.
You dont even need butter really, they are just very tasty.

Also, Frijoles Negros is a winner. Fry off a load of garlic with an onion, reeeeally slowly, throw in some crushed (habinero if you have it) chilli, and half a GOOD can of black beans (something like Goya).
Get your wooden spoon, mash up the remaining beans, put them in, fill the can with water, swill it around, put that in. Simmer the whole lot for ~20 mins, until it comes together.
You can add a drop of lime juice into the rice, and then serve away.

It's all about the nutroast around here, Christmas just wouldn't be the same without it. I also got one of those realeat veggie roasts that everyone was on about.

my curry thing was oresome. going to have the remains of it for lunch now. it went very well with the ham too.
