Hi all,

Following the mindblowing set of Stealth Engineering during the DEAF Showcase, Undercurrent continues on its electro odessey with the return of Transparent Sound to Dublin. The lads are touring their new alblum Fantasy Hair Cut which has been winning rave reviews from critics for all its electro hooks and crunches with acid-fried edges.

Support on the night comes from Dublin¹s Magnetize who really blew the socks off everyone lucky enough to catch his deeply layered crisp production at his Anti-Chord EP launch at DEAF.

Undercurrent presents:

Transparent Sound played last year in Crawdaddy and povided a
spectacular night * ask anyone there, listen to the set or better
still come down next week * to be honest we¹ve been dying to get them back as soon as possible. A full album of new material will be unleashed in the Hub and coupled with the duo¹s obvious skill and masterful production of live preformance, this should be a seriously beatific night.

Transparent Sound Biography
Transparent Sound has had various different members over the years, but is essentially a musical collaboration between Martin Brown and Orson Bramley, who met and started writing music together in their hometown of Bognor Regis back in 1994.

Along with co-founder Steve Penfold they set about creating a very distinctive electro influenced sound. The first release on
Transparent Sound Recordings, Meltdown Ride (or the yellow one as it has become known) came out the following year. A flurry of 12's came out over the next few years under various different guises, as the guys experimented with different sounds & styles, but the main theme continued to be electro, with further releases on the TS imprint.

This chapter in their history closed after The Cure asked them to re-mix their 1997 single Wrong Number. Steve left the project to pursue his scaffolding career, while Orson & Martin continued recording.During the summer of 1998 an analogue only project was started with old friends Scape 1 and Tim Harris, another two of Bognors ³Electro Elite². Using nothing but an 808, a couple of 101's, a basic 8 channel desk, minimal effects and a handful of crappy old keyboards such classics as Freaks Frequency and Down in Miami were created in a series of live session recordings.

By the end of 1999 it was clear this project had reached a natural end, and Orson and Martin set about creating a new studio-The Chilli Plant. Still using basic equipment, the duo produced a series of stunning tracks culminating in the release of their first studio album, Emotional Amputation in 2002 on Electrix. During this period the boys developed an impressive live set, which has since set dance floors alight in venues across the UK & Europe. A much acclaimed mix album" Beats Clash volume 1-Radioactive Man v Transparent Sound also came out during 2002.

Last year saw Orson concentrating on setting up his new label Orson Records, but still finding the time to play many live dates with Martin including a breathtaking set at the Sonar festival in Barcelona. The duo has also finished recording their second album, which will be coming out later in the year.

Magnetize Biography
Magnetize is a singular entity presently based in Ireland who has been making and playing music for the last ten years originally at his own clubnite bling.bling and since at many others. Releases to date have come on compilations from Neuromantek, the Dublin Electronic Arts Festival and two Lps on Rimbaud Records. The first of these, 'Biome', released in 2004, is made up of a layered tapestry of textures, ranging from drones and soundscapes to looped guitar sounds and radio-wave static. It has been described -

"Biome crackles with the high energy of cosmic radiation filtered through a particle accelerator hotwired to an amplifier....it turns out to be a superb disc of sound captured and reconstituted from the frontiers of chaos..." -
Aural Innovations.

"Here's an album with a nice line in knowingly esoteric exercises in soundscape exploration, but not at all in a chin-stroking, weirdy- beardy,'aren't-I-fucking-clever' manner" - Collective Zine.

"Biome could just be some of the best spooky space music you'll hear all year" - Gaz-eta Newspaper.

The second Lp 'Live@Lazybird' (only available in limited quantities directly from Rimbaud Records) is a live recording of an 'Audio based brainwave entrainment' session which involved extensive usage of the concept of 'Binaural beats' - auditory responses which result from the interaction of two different auditory impulses, originating in opposite ears meshing in and out of phase. Synchronized brain waves
have long been associated with meditative and hypnogogic states, and audio with embedded binaural beats has the ability to induce and improve such states of consciousness.

October 2005 sees the release of a dark dancefloor electro ep, 'Anti-chord', on renowned uk electro label Templedog. very limited white labels have been in circulation throughout the summer and are receiving support from Bassjunkie, Heuristic Audio, Decal, Drexciyan Dj Stingray and others. The official launch for this EP was at DEAF on 28th Oct as part of the Undercurrent showcase. Magnetize will be playing live - expect a unique flavour of dark atonal funk.
