a friend of mine with fairly reasonable musical taste says the early simple minds albums are so good that theyre her favorite band despite their later stuff (1982 onwards) being gammy. she played me some instrumental tune as an example of how good they used top be but it sounded pretty average to me.

Life In A Day, Reel To Real Cacophony, Empires and Dance, Sons and Fascination, Sister Feelings Call, New Gold Dream

all good.

The rot set in with Sparkle In The Rain and Once Upon A Time - although you could construct a fairly decent LP from the two.
