after turning up early today and being first in queue for a visa, i find out that my key form was signed by someone in washington with a black pen, when it should have been a blue pen. why does this matter, i ask. fraud prevention they reply. (obviously they have never heard of colour photocopiers.) i have my return flights booked for next week, i mention. !zed they reply.

the most annoying thing was finding out when i got home that last year's forms were signed in black too.

What I find great about the US emb is when they make an appointment for 7.55am, and tell you to be there 20 minutes ahead of time.

So, you are up at the fucking crack of dawn, hauling yourself down there with no food in you, getting there just in time, and no one is in sight.

Other than other muppets like yourself who fell for the same line.
You stand in the queue, freezing your bollix off, and then they dont open until 9 am.

Or... the phone line thing, where you have to listen to 20 minutes of stuff you already know, at 1 Euro / minute, before you are allowed talk to a human.

blue ink doesn't photocopy as well as black.

although it's hard to tell the difference between an original signature made in black ink versus a photocopy of same.

whereas if it were signed in blue then it would be crystal clear.
