Awesome. 100% deserves to be at the top of the page.
Majella was great for him and brought the divil in wee Daniel. His image was very straight and humourless but he has long had a great sense of humour about himself (and supported some important social changes along the way).
Used to hate him but now I've long thought he's sound.

swear to God the real reason XTC weren't more successful isn't because they were from Swindon it's because of Andy Partridge's non-stop gurning anytime someone points a camera at him

Easybeats frontman Stevie Wright had horrific personal problems and in 1973 his old pals George Young and Harry Vanda wrote him a song to get him back on his feet.
'Evie' was a three part tune of 11 odd minutes which topped the Australian charts. It featured Malcolm Young on guitar.
Some folks reckon Freddie heard it before he wrote Bohemian Rhapsody but it more closely resembles November Rain but it's a far better song.
There's a great live version outside Sydney Opera House (at same 1979 festival where Lizzy tear it up with Gary Moore)

Yeah - it doesn't sound like BR other than the scale of it.

Great tune though.

I think there are elements of November Rain though - the piano part and tragedy theme building up to a crescendo.
Whether Guns ever heard Evie before they wrote November Rain is doubtful as NR was written in the 80s.
