Sure cos of downloads many songs released in the last 10 years have way outsold them Beatles.

Uptown Funk for example has sold almost 15 million downloads thus far.

Everything else is niche, including a lot of pop music.

i thought when downloads started that they stopped bothering with weekly the top 40. now i realise that's just what i did.

Top 40 now factors in retail sales, download sales & streams. Not sure how they're weighted, but a month or so back the biebs was at #1, #2 & #3.

EDM = Electronic Dance Music = the worst, most embarrassing of 90's Europop discovered by America in the early to mid 2000's.

MMW = Miami Music Week. They really should have explained that one to be honest.

while we're at it:

Poptimism = a style of music criticism that takes pop music seriously. Much of this stems from the I Love Music message board (ilXor.com) in the early 2000's and has since become standard Pitchfork and beyond (Nytimes) fare = a humourless version of what Smash Hits were doing in 1980.
