Alpha Relish in association with thingsyouremissing.com presents
THE REDNECK MANIFESTO and DAEMIEN FROST who play their last Dublin performances on Thursday 6th March at the Temple Bar Music Centre, before heading off to play the SXSW showcase in Austin, Texas. The party starts at 8pm, and features live sets, DJs, visuals by DEL 9, EPOCH Photographic Exhibition and nice surprises.

THE REDNECK MANIFESTO formed in 1998 from the ashes of four of Dublin's best hardcore bands. They introduced themselves to Dublin audiences by way of a bunch of 7" singles on their own Greyslate label as well as a split 7" on Road Relish. It was however their debut album '36 Strings' (a joint venture with Red F Records) that harnessed the power of their increasingly passionate, tight and hypnotic instrumental live shows. They have been described as "the tightest, most dynamic and consistently interesting to emerge from Dublin for a very long time indeed". '36 Strings' was acclaimed 'Irish album of the year' for 2001 by the Event Guide but few expected a follow up to appear so quickly. 'Cut Your Heart Off From Your Head' was originally intended as a tour EP to help defray the costs of their first European Tour in March 2002. Instead the Rednecks and producer - Decal man Alan O'Boyle came up with a companion piece to '36 Strings'. Cut Your Heart Off From Your Head' shows the Rednecks moving forward, as seen at this years Witnness festival in Ireland where they played a triumphant show to over 4,000 people. A resolutely independent group, TRM has bypassed the normal channels of industry hype: successes to date (sold-out venues, snapped-up recordings issued on their own label) have been based entirely on their own merits, hard work and a phenomenal word-of-mouth reputation...quite simply, their live shows are an event to witness.

DAEMIEN FROST Formed in Dublin in late 2000 and took just over 12 months to record "Corpus Daemo", an LP which has confounded their critics and received high praise from, some would say, their contemporaries. Previous to this, the band received 'Single Of The Fortnight' from The Dublin Event Guide for their first release, a split 7" with The Jimmy Cake on the Road Relish Records. Stage-sharing with the likes of Sweep The Leg Johnny, Oxes, Guapo, Trans Am and The Fucking Champs only served to fuel home ground excitement at the arrival of "Corpus Daemo". Following its release, Daemien Frost collaborated on releases with Japan's Melt Banana and London's Montana Pete. 2002 saw the band being featured on the "Please Don't Ask Us What We Think Of Your Band" compilation CD (released with “Homage" magazine) and playing at Wonky 2, a prestigious audio-visual event held at the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin (curated by Leagues O'Toole - No Disco, Foggy Notions). The same year also saw 3 of their 7 planned videos completed, their 2nd LP is to contain a bonus CD containing a video for every song from the 1st LP. As for their sound, loose comparisons have been drawn to the likes of Laddio Bolocko, Don Caballero, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Captain Beefheart and Sonic Youth. Attending this years SXSW showcase in Austin, touring Europe and recording their 2nd full-length CD are just some ways Daemien Frost is planning to waste 2003.

I was in the background of one I think - gurning from the lack of nicotine in my system. It's scary, like one of those "I caught a ghost on camera" pictures.
