Been listening to John Kelly on RTE 1 a lot lately.
Best music show on the radio by far.

Last night was a mid-life crisis special featuring Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits, Randy Newman, lots of mad country songs etc. Great stuff!

Next Wed show is favourite vocalists of all time...
My vote goes to Mimi Parker

also, newstalk is probly the only thing i listen to most of the time on account of other stations just being crap

My current favourite singer is that guy out of System of a Down. Doubt he will play them though :)
John Kelly is ace

Thats funny cause I remember he played Toxicity once and laughed for about 3 mins straight afterwards. He followed it with a version of We Shall Overcome recorded in a church somewhere in the Deep South, just to "calm down his more regular listeners.."

System of a Down have a mad drummer too!
Sounds like theres about three of them

John Kelly broke his belly sliding down a lump of jelly.

He is good though. So is Lyric FM on Fri eve - the jazz show.

mmmmm drinking red wine while in the bath mmmmmmm

My fave singer of all time is Nina Simone. Kinda rough and mannish, which is how i like my women (apart from my girlfriend that is).

I harangued him once in the reception in RTE trying to get him to play Stoat
He's a gent

Ah yes, he used to play "I Wrote This to Woo You" quite a bit, back to back with some jazz/ piano classics. Which was very cool :)

When I first heard him in his Today FM days, I thought he was some old dude. God Bless the days of the Eclectic Ballroom followed by Here Comes the Night. I didn't have a tv for 16 months and it didn't bother me at all
