How come so many people watched that in the dark ages (ie '80s)?

saw some of this a while ago too...cripes - kept watching
to see if anything that even approached being funny would
happen - it just didn't. it was kind of mindblowing how bad
it was, considering how well regarded he is.

I used to love the Kenny Everett show when I was like 7 or something. I think that was his target audience.

I watched loads of it years ago waiting for something to happen but nothing ever did.

Loved his show as a kid I did.
Found The Best of The Kenny Everett Video Show on VHS couple of years back in a charity shop, was gutted when I discovered the tape was mangled.

First time I heard Olivers Army was because of that show.

I like it. Was better on Thames before it moved to BBC.

Saw a documentary about the whole thing on ITV a few months ago.
Badly put together. Voyeuristic footage of Cleo.

Duran Duran and U2 appeared during the 1983 season. Won't be easy clear the footage for a DVD release.

At the time it was funny as as "Not the 9 o clock new" but even that has dated badly.

I've heard a tiny amount of his radio broadcasts and they had me in fucking bits. The man was a genius.
