It reads like a who's who of Irish punk!

U2, The Atrix, The Blades, DC Nein, Berlin, The Outcasts, Rudi, Rocky DeValera & The Grave Diggers etc..

Definately cool to read stuff like that because at this stage the north is so much better documented. It seems like there was just as much going on down here though. Just maybe not as many releases.

Hi Vin, Having seen and played support to many of the bands mentioned i can safely say that rocky devalera were not a punk band (rhythm and blues) the blades were a brilliant pop band (with punk spirit) berlin were just shite, and need i say more about U2?? rudi and the outcasts could only claim to be a punk band in this list. Great punk bands that played the ''dando'' include the pretty, the boy scoutz, the sinners, the threat, the love murders etc. of course punk as a movement had died around 1978/79 but dublin only embraced it really strongly around 78'. The dando was an old warehouse that allowed the rain pour through holes in the ceiling and gather in puddles on the concrete floor. The stage was made up of old pallets stacked on top of each other and it was 50 pence admission. That was when cider and speed was cheap. Great fuckin days. It was our Roxy if ya like.

cheers
