I saw the Jennifer Walshe one ("Procedure for Smoothing Air") on Saturday. I really liked it. Loads of bizarre juxtapositions between sight (a woman blowing bubbles, throwing feathers back and forth, sprooshing spray cans) and sound (plinky-plonky piano, trombone and cello). Very dada; I thought it was pretty funny, although I bet loads of people hated it.



Yeah, but I'm not much into choral music (I went primarily to see "Drumming"), so I found it a bit dull. People who know more about it that I do said it was all very good.

I dont know how the guy with the balloon kept such a straight face...

I came out of Feldman's 'Neither' with new ears and a very excited brain, seeing the two Reich pieces beforehand was comparatively a waste of time.

Reich hasn't written anything new or really worthwhile IMO since 'Tehillim' which, itself has little to do with what I love about the earlier work.

Movt. 1 of 'You are' is a freaky carbon copy of 'Tehillim' with a blue note and a smattering of a Reich megamix thrown in for good measure. Total fucking autopilot.

Still love the guy.
