wars were so much more romantic in the old days. i doubt the lads in iraq are singing "la lala, la lalala la, la lala la la la". actually thats the second time c de b has failed to come up with a credible message for his characters to sing in the chorus (im thinking of 'na na na na na na na na na na" in a spaceman came travelling

this seems like a good place to make a request I've been meaning to make for about a year now:

does anyone have any decent modern versions of Irving Berlin songs? I don't mean modern as is techno-ed up or anything (although Taco does some pretty fun versions) but decent recordings. Most of the recordings of his songs (with a few exceptions) I can get are dreadful big band jazz things that just wreck my head

I mean, something that isn't a mental 30's recording featuring an entire orchestra going full pelter and five minutes of ella fitzgerald scatting.

there's a singer called Maude Maggart who released an album of Irving Berlin songs that's great. I guess i'm talking cabaret but not rubbish
