Now for the biggie! From Thursday November 24th until Sunday November 27th, the Electric Fix takes on its biggest venture yet, THE first ever ELECTRIC FIX WEEKENDER!
Four shows over four nights in four venues and all at 4 Euros each. Performing artists will include Skkatter, Chymera, Lakker, Thalamus, The Consumption, LPX [again], Guerilla, Ebauche, The Last Sound, Magnatize and plenty others.
More info about that at a later date, but in the meantime drive safe and happy Easter (just don’t kill the bunny..!)

SOFT CUDDLY TOYS
The band formed around October of 2003 to play a tribute gig for their friend and brother Jon Fox who unfortunately passed away that September. After playing the Whelan’s show that December and having one of the most intimate and amazing onstage experiences of their lives they decided to continue to play together. Over the next year and a half the band worked on some songs, played some gigs and in general got to grips with playing together and finding a sound that complimented everyone’s role in the group.

After some line up changes and the recent addition of a new drummer the band have gone on to carve themselves a growing reputation on the live circuit. This included playing events such as the grand final of Whelan's Brave New Stage showcase Hard Working Class Heroes '05, The Revs support slots as chosen by HotPress as well as promising reviews in various music columns of their recently released Higher Ground E.P.
While all of this may sound good, the band would much rather you check out one of their gigs and make up your own mind.

THE ECLECTIC
The Eclectic are a five piece band from Dublin consisting of brothers Kev and Liam O’ Brien, Keith Murphy, Mick Power and Ste McCormack. Origins can be traced as far back as 2002 but from 2004 onward the band have been forging their reputation live around Dublin and in early 2005 they completed their long awaited demo ‘Songs For a Blank Canvas’.
The Eclectic originally formed in South Dublin, in 2002 when Brothers Liam and Kev started jamming in the O'Brien
household. Keith Murphy (a close friend of Liam's) was soon invited to these exclusive get together and the three soon started to do not very much at all.
Kev and Mick met in college and quickly found out they had a similar interest in talking shite about, but also playing, music. The 4 soon started to play in practice studios around Dublin and played their first gig at Kev’s 21st. The band at this stage had no name and played all covers (mostly crap ones).

After that they did pretty much nothing together for about a year and a half. In that time Kev got an 8 track digital recorder and started writing and recording songs with Brother Liam. A friend of Kev’s, Ste, on listening to some of Kev’s stuff realised that he wasn't a talentless plonker and started writing songs with him. After deciding to get up off their arses the 5 lads got together and started practicing these new songs.
The second gig came along when Brian, Keith’s brother, asked them to play at his 21st and unleashing their sound onto the unsuspecting public (their mates). This is when the band came up with the name "The Eclectic", ditching the previous name, "The Freakin’ Urinal Cakes". With this new name it was time to unleash their sound on the general public (the real public).

BAND ON AN ISLAND
Band on an island formed in 2003, originally founded by Ciaran Dwyer and Robert Mockler. Introduced to the guitar through the influence of Philip Lynott, Robert Mockler learned the opening chords of "wonderwall". Eager to be able to make 'these sounds' Ciaran enlisted Rob to teach him how to play guitar and after much cursing, swearing, torn chord books and battered fingers Ciaran became the fine guitar player he is today.
The lads both like the idea of writing songs about everyday life as a young person; this was the fuel behind BOAI.
This band would be different to all other bands, they would look into the sides of life not really explored by other bands, and address strong issues closer to home in their hometown of Newbridge than delusions of grandeur, approaching music with an honesty not found in most bands. Armed with a capo and 2 songs they took to 'the campfires' and honed their skills of writing by having song battles against each other, coming up with free style songs about different things, mostly about peoples mothers, simply cause that's what pissed people off the most! Then out of the blue their first gig loomed, a local singer songwriter night. With no songs other than the teenage years, Ciaran wrote "eug pockets" a story of one man and his sticky fingers and "master bedroom" a story about what really goes on at house parties. Both songs written on the arrow train from Dublin to Newbridge, these would become Band on an island's trademarks. All that was left now was for Robert who had recently acquired a drum kit to learn how to play.
With little or no practice, experience, or talent their first gig was a roaring success. Enlisting the help of two close friends Gavin Elsted and Andrew O Donnell, Band on an island became more of a band. More and more songs and gigs followed and Band on an island built up a small loyal following of amazing fans who are kind enough to lend their voices at gigs and push the band further and further, bringing them to places where none of them thought they would ever see, thus the story so far, the rest (?) to be continued...

Kenzie Johnson and the Rainmakers are a bunch of white guys from south Dublin, Ireland with HUGE imaginations and too much time on their hands. They couldn’t come up with a decent name for their band and so they decided to assume black alter egos and from that day on they were known as Kenzie Johnson and the Rainmakers. Kenzie Johnson, Jamall Fox, Hooch Jackson, and Boots Earl, along with their dealer friend SUPERFLY, are now set to take over the world! They have already been dubbed "the Jackson 5 with less people and more balls", "the saviors of the universe" and "the Beatles if they wished they were black".

Leigh O'Gorman has been performing in the area of sound engineering and computer music for approximately 3 years now, although it is only in the last year and a half that he has started playing live shows.
In the summer of 2003, Leigh constructed the soundtrack for the short feature "15 Minutes", and in January 2004 performed live for the first time in the Riverbank Arts Center in Newbridge alongside friction:fire and Pilot Stars.
He is currently preparing his (official) debut single for release and it will hopefully be out for late January/early February.
Leigh is qualified Sound Engineer and has earned a FETAC certification in Music Performance and is currently in his second year of Music Management in Ballyfermot College of Further Education.
Adores the Clash – can’t stand the Frames.
