Slint ATP Line up so far (2 Viewers)

"Like many curators Slint are introducing new and exciting artists to ATP as well as bands who mean the world to them or even acts they have a long time association with and feel very strongly about.

This is what is so unique about ATP as it allows you to see first time UK sets from the following artists and hopefully you will feel the same admiration for them as Slint do. These acts include: Rednails, Sean Garrison, Endless Boogie, Pearls and Brass, Born Heller and The Naysayer."

A bit of an apologist tone from the folks at ATP there. I really don't think they need to explain the amount of obscure artists in the line-up, surely that's the best part of ATP. I know when I went in 2002 I only knew about half the line-up and got into loads of great new stuff as a result.

A bit of the old soulseek research to be done before the end of February though, yes.

Looking forward to seeing Múm again, not really my kinda thing but I was really impressed last time I saw them.

yeah, absolutely. I agree with that. I've heard at least half a dozen new, good acts every year I've gone, so "obscure acts" are cool with me.. as long as they're good of course! ;)

fuck yeah!

edit: actually, I just remembered, neil hamburger, wasn't he the MC on the first tortoise ATP? he coughed into the mic a lot, and that's about all I can remember except for the following joke: why did julia roberts smear peanut butter on her vagina? because she was horny.. I laughed, but I'm still not sure why..

How does one become curator of ATP then?

Its best the way they have new or under-appreciated acts playing.Thats what its all about - in with the new!

neil hamburger just supported pinback on their us tour and was nearly bottled off every night

i utterly hated him at first but now think he is amazing

I think he was the MC for the Shellac-curated ATP, not the Tortoise one. I found him totally unfunny, but I'm not generally a fan of stand-up comedy, regardless of who does it.

See what you get when you let boffins curate a party.
aye, but i'm guessing you've never heard of the majority of these bands? could well be deadly

i'll stick with being optimistic and i'll bring enough bucky to have fun anyway.

Fred Armisten was a right giggle as MC at the Shellac ATP, his Cuban priest being my favourite character. In for a treat if Neil Hamburger's half as good.

Got some stuff by most of the acts I didn't know now. While I'm not dissapointed by any of them, I can't say I'm really excited by any either. Still, early days yet.
