who here suffers from sinus pain and what do you do to alleviate it?

I've had dodgy sinii for years but in the past 2 or 3 the pain is pretty much constant and along with that I have associated symptoms of feeling exhausted, a constant nasal drip down my throat and lack of concentration cos my head is so fuzzy. I saw a specialist about it and apparently I have a deviated septum and narrow nasal passages which accounts for most of it, when I have a cold I can feel them touching high up, it's gross. Anyway I get pain around the bridge of my nose and across the top of my eyes and when it's really bad I get neuralgia and my whole face hurts.

I've never really found anything that properly works as a remedy but I've tried various nasal sprays (herbal ones, sudafed) potters antifect, salt and water, inhaling olbas oil and smoothing out the sore area with my thumbs (this does work actually but only temporarily). The main thing I do is gobble painkillers.

Anyone got any other suggestions?

sometimes when i get a sinus infection (like at the minute) i have the urge to shove a large sharp piece of metal into the roof of my mouth and twist it around - have you tried that?

I also notice that having dodgy sinuses increases hangover headache by pi x the square root of one million. Yeow.

yeh. i remember that story in 'boy' by roald dahl where he had his adenoids removed, that's always what i think of when the sharp metal urge pops into my mind.

can you get surgery for the deviated septum? you could get a frontal lobotomy at the same time, thus obviating the need for visits to the shrink. Fuck it, just go the whole hog and go for a trepanning as well.

oh have you tried cutting out dairy? that helps reduce congestion. not on the roads though.

apparently that's just anecdotal, from reading I did be doing. You're supposed to avoid....yurgh..mucus forming....yurgh foods, but I don't eat much dairy as it is.

Try not to sleep hanging upside down or doing too many handstands. That always wrecks the sinii off me.

Any chance you're taking medicines that might have that shit as a contraindication?

nope, nothing. I can live with it, but it'd be good to find something that managed it a bit better.

is it to do with the climate? i never suffered from sinus problems when i lived in africa because of the dry climate. since coming here, i suffer (nothing like what you go through though). you might need to move to a desert.

if all else fails, hand over the mr sheen to mr bowles. that way you dont have any more headaches and his earache will disappear too.

Theres a good chance that your sinus pain is related to your toothpain. Thats the case with me. If the sinuses fill with fluid they become inflammed and put pressure on tooth nerves resulting in a dull pain along the jaw.

i've had blocked, annoying sinuses all my life. i've never done anything about it and forget about it until someone asks if i've been able to taste something.
