People have always questioned why Ireland and specifically Dublin has not had any electronic/dance
acts break through internationally. If they looked a little closer they'll find 2006 was a great year for Irish
acts, although all now based abroad. Dublin's Shit Robot, Dancepig, Padded Cell (Neil Higgins) &
Donnacha Costelloe have released some fantastic music recently thats making a real impact internationally.
Its Shit Robot (aka Marcus Lambkin) that concerns us this Saturday. His releases on New York's D.F.A
records (run by James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem) have generated a huge amount of interest.
His remix of Dondolo's 'Dragon' thats really turning heads and its turning up in DJs charts across the
board as one of the tracks of the year.
Check it out here:
Dublin born, Marcus moved to New York in back in 1992 and started DJing in various bars around
the East Village. This eventually led to a residency at the soon to be legendary 'Save The Robots' night.
Marcus formed Plant records with Dominique Keegan (The Glass), Plant Saturdays at Centro-Fly
and then the sadly missed Plant bar (A victim of then mayor Giuliani's strict dance licensing laws!)
It was at Plant bar that Marcus teamed up with LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy to start the
Shit Robot party. The name coming from a bad drawing of a robot that Murphy did one night at the bar!
In 2003 Marcus left Plant to work independantly and them in 2005 moved the whole operation to
Stuttgart where he currently lives and works.
Marcus has been touring the U.S. and Europe as shit robot with LCD Soundsystem and the Juan
Maclean and we're delighted to host his homecoming gig at Space Camp.
Support comes from Johnny Moy (Clampdown) & Space Camp DJs
'We ate the toys eddie!'
