i'm not sure if the nerd board is the right place to ask this but i'm trying to get stills from a dvd for art using ctrl+alt+print scrn and placing them into paint or psp and saving them as jpegs. but whenever i save them they just come up as black. is this to stop piracy? how do i get around it?

DVDs are displayed in a video overlay, so don't actually form part of the screen that the print screen will grab... you're getting a black box where the picture should be, right?

if you're using PowerDVD or WinDVD or something other than Windows Media Player then there should be an option to to a screen grab. I think VLC plays DVDs, and that has a snapshot function.

VLC plays dvds alright. Where's the snapshot function out of curiosity?
