you watch any american sport, you have the big boys, but you also have a former rubbish team making a go off it every year. arizona cardinals, pittsburgh penguins, devil rays etc etc

But each sport has only 30-odd pro* teams across the whole country. 300 million people. Some fairly big cities have no team in any of the major sports. That couldn't wash in Europe.

i was more pointing out the fact that american sports are good for ensuring monoploies/dynasties dont happen.
