A professor in America, over the course of the past twenty years of growing E-Coli in laboratory conditions established that, essentially, it evolved the ability to grow on citrate and utilise it in aerobic respiration (i think - i not smart), over the course of 31,000 generations. Proof positive of darwinian theory? Possibly, someone smart could fill you in on that one, who cares?
