As a feature for the weekly radio show Spin ALT, producer Ray Wingnut took a member from a hardcore/metal group, a traditional Irish fiddle player and an electronica/downbeat/hiphop vocalist and placed them firstly in a rehearsal room, and later in a radio studio.
The idea was to use this crossover of styles and genres as a contemporary exploration of their own music, to question how they perceived each other's music and lastly to explore the creative process and exchange that is to JAM.
The results are here and I would love to know what you think. Thanks a million.
Further info:
Robin Van Der Klooster is the bass player with Ennis band Ilenkus. They are highly regarded as able and ambitious young-guns in the Irish metal scene.
Jen Hesnan is a trad fiddle player with a trad-reggae crossover band The Hardcore Priests of Yemen. Jen is also a youth worker with Jigsaw and runs musical outreach programs in Galway city.
Alison MacDonnell is the singer with VOIDS. The band recently travelled to Amterdam to record their debut EP with Irish producer Lewis James.
