Purchasing/hosting a domain? (1 Viewer)

Help can anyone help me with the rules/ways of purchasing a web domain.
I want to register a web domain/name now that I will not use immeadiately.
I have found that I can register a dot.com domain for 5 years with Yahoo for $14.95 ($2.99 pa).

What I am not clear about is
1. When I register the domain with Yahoo is the domain owned by me or is it the property of Yahoo who are leasing it to me for 5 years?
2. Can I register a domain name with say Yahoo and then when I want the site to go live can I have someone host it?

Any help would be appreciated

if you are the domain registrant, then you own the domain name. you can check the domain registration info by doing a whois search for it at www.samspade.org
you can host the domain anywhere you want, assuming yahoo don't have anything in the small print tying you to use them, seeing as you are getting it so cheaply.
