HILARY WOODS with Tandem Felix & guests
Friday October 10th, 9pm, E12/10 online
Hilary Woods’ “beguiling song- craft” (Hotpress) is one suffused with hushed vocals, mood driven melodies and intimate atmospherics. The former JJ72 bassist writes detuned dream folk-pop steeped in luscious sounds over compellingly simple beats. The follow up to her critically acclaimed debut solo project “The River Cry” (“ A revelation in terms of the depth of songwriting”- The Sunday Times) is her eagerly awaited E.P “Night”, due for release the 18th September 2014. Launched as part of this year’s Dublin Fringe Festival, Woods brings “Night” to the Roisin Dubh in a spellbinding performance for her first solo show in Galway. Influences include Frida Kahlo, The Doors, Francois Hardy, William Faulkner, Etta James, Nick Drake, Daphne du Maurier, Chris Marker, Jon Hopkins.
