i get you, they are pretty fine in the distortion area. not much of a manic distortion going on. BUT you through a fuzz pedal in on top of it. Oh lord!

Just doesn't have the balls of the old marshalls. I borrowed one in europe for a few gigs while my marshall was getting fixed. I was so excited to try it out,but despite having it for two days and playing around with it for ages(hours) to get a sound it just didn't come close to the roar of the marshall. didn't sound remotely as loud either. i would be curioos about Peavy 5150's though,as they are supposed to be mostly based on the plexi's.
Generally,I find old british amps are the best.
