New Seomra Spraoi! (1 Viewer)

Was anyone else there when the sap got on stage during Devendra Banharts set at the Electric Picnic and played a god awful cover of this. Serves me right for going to see Devendra Banhart though...

and Patty Hearst, you're standing there in front of the Symbionese Liberation Army flag with your legs spread, I was wondering will you get it every night from a black revolutionary man and his women or whether you really did and now that you're on the run what goes on in your mind, your sisters they sit by the window, you know your mama doesn't sit and cry and your daddy, well you know what your daddy said, Patty, you know what your daddy said, Patty, he said, he said, he said, "Well, sixty days ago she was such a lovely child, now here she is with a gun in her hand."

NOOLY, YER A LEGEND!.|..|.|..|

I'd been trying to find out the name of that one and that Symbionese Liberation Army for ages. There was a piece of it on Reeling In The Years ages ago but as soon as i saw it i forgot all the names. Been trying to remember it for ages. Gonna go have a wee look into what it's all about now...

Check out Guerrilla: The Taking of Patty Hearst, aka Neverland: The Rise and Fall of the Symbionese Liberation Army. Good movie.

All the gun-toting 70s lefties are great craic.

the first version i posted was copied and pasted from somewhere that did a half-assed version of the lyrics...i know probably no-one except me cares if the lyrics are exactly right but it makes the meaning a lot better.

I checked out the Khmer Rouge while in Cambodia.
'You're Getting It Tonight (You Four-Eyed Cunt)' on their S21 album is catchy as fuck,
real old-school snotty nosed punk, and a quality sing-along chorus.
Such a shame their frontman passed away 10 years ago, there was talk of a reunion.

Will be in Dublin at the end of the month, will drop in alright, have to give you guys the money we raised for you at Pogo (www.pogocafe.co.uk).

well done, hope to see the new place soon

belvedere ct-what’s this space? meeting, thurs 9th oct

this Thursday at 7.30pm there’ll be a meeting at 10
belvedere court to try and decide which rooms/spaces we’ll use for what, eg
where to put kitchen, café, venue, kids area, meeting rooms, office.

All are encouraged to come along and participate in this
collective process.

In order to help with this, if you want to familiarize
yourself more with the space and contribute suggestions, the building will be
open this week on Wednesday 3pm – 6.30pm and Thursday from 3pm - 7.30pm. There’ll
also be some painting and cleaning happening if you want to help.

If you can’t make it during these times please ring the
seomra spraoi phone 0872403602 to see if someone will be in the building at
other times.

Your new social centre is located at 10 Belvedere Court, off upper Gardiner st, very close to Mountjoy Square.
See www.seomraspraoi.
org for map & directions.

This below event is on this Sunday.
The next week, Sunday 16th is a action day with tackling stuff that needs building, getting materials and working on fixing the gaff up a bit. Not just for one day (although if that's all the time u got your still welcome) this needs some time and commitment to collect materials and really work on getting the place looking good. PM me if you feel like helping.
Something for everyone, thinkers, do-ers or those who like doing both.

'THINK IN' this Sunday 1pm 10 Belvedere Court – Lunch
provided by the Peoples Kitchen (donations welcome)

Hi folks

there will be a 'THINK-IN' this SUNDAY 9th November from 1pm at Seomra
Spraoi's new home @ 10 Belvedere Court – ALL WELCOME. Lunch provided
by the Peoples Kitchen (donations welcome)

The purpose of the day is to discuss where we want to take Dublin's
social centre project in its latest manifestation. While there are
weekly meetings held every Thursday in the new venue from 7.30 (Dinner
at 7pm) dealing with the numerous practical issues involved in the
upkeep of the place (all welcome) – it seemed necessary to take some
time to chat about the exciting prospects and suggestions for future
projects in the social centre. So far there has been suggestions for a
Kindergarten, discussion groups on topics relating to international
social centre projects and the struggle against capitalism, Yoga
classes, Bicycle workshops, theatre venue….and much more.

If you have any weird and wonderful suggestions or just want to come
along to have a look see – JOIN US this SUNDAY @ 1pm

The Idea
Seomra Spraoi is an autonomous social centre in Dublin city centre. It
is run by a non-hierarchical collective on a not-for-profit basis. It
hosts workshops, political meetings, film screenings and lots more.
The centre seeks to be a hub of positive resistance, in a city and
society where public spaces have been eaten away by consumerism,
property speculation and the culture of the car.

"We're having a work day in Seomra Spraoi this Tuesday, the 18th.
There's plenty to be done with the new building before regular and
open events can start taking place, so come and lend a hand.

If you possess any skills or tools, please bring them, but if not,
there'll still be lots of jobs to do.
We'll be there from midday. The address is 10 Belvedere Court, just
north of Mountjoy Square. http://www.seomraspraoi.org Google Maps link

If you have better things to be doing of a weekday afternoon, we're
hoping to have another work day next weekend, so keep your ears pealed
if you're interested."
