Ah, he was just a bit stern. Although the picture of graduating schoolgirls that was in his jacks (according to a Guarniad interview) did sound a little odd.

pretty much spent my monthly allocation for records already and its only the 5th. gonna try not to buy anything now til primavera. haha....groan. picked up black jazz consortium stuff at the weekend. the ep is good enough but the track 'steps beyond' is an absolute gem, i could listen to it all day long. might fit into the detroit house thread somewhere. ish. teeny sample of it here

Agh, the wave pictures may just be my favourite current band. I'd die to see them live.

One thing I've been listening to is Sambela by Bopol Masiamina & Syran Mbenza from the very excellent ylow blog:

It's probably the best thing, of a lot of great music, I've heard off that blog.

Also, Eccsame The Photon Band (1995) by Lilys is a pretty great album, not a million miles off Swervedriver to my ears.

Shades of Animal Collective, Why?, Daniel Johnston and Dntel in there, methinks...and someone else (vocally) who I haven't quite put my finger on yet. Sometimes his lyrics are a bit emo, which I actually find quite appealing.
