Lynched is a 4 piece traditional Irish folk group with a soft spot for all things dark and droning. Coming from a background where music takes place at almost every family meeting, they have played and sung all over the world to audiences as diverse as the revolutionary Zapatistas in Mexico to middle aged folkies in Louisiana to punk rockers in LA to wobbed out mashbags in Germany.

When they set out, they played folk-punk in Dublin pubs. They have since moved the focus to the city’s roots and its ancient song tradition. And they have brought their punk audience along for the ride. The repertoire includes anti-war songs, singalongs, children’s songs from the streets of Dublin and old Traveller songs – a brew from the early days of the century before last that we now regard as core Irish music. Lynched numbers brothers Ian and Darragh Lynch, and, coupled with multi-instrumentalists and singers Cormac MacDiarmada and Radie Peat, master a broad sound spectrum, with concertinas, fiddles and uilleann pipes, which still gives space for their characteristic vocal harmonies. This is a different style of Irish band: at once a pretty traditional Dublin band, but with an edge of something sharp and rusty.

In 2013 they received the Deis Recording Award from the Arts Council of Ireland to record 'Cold Old Fire' in the studio of the Irish Traditional Music Archive.

HARRY BRADLEY
One thing that can be said about Harry Bradley is his unyielding dedication to traditional music. From his childhood in Belfast in the 70’s and 80’s when playing traditional music would have taken extra resolve compared with the present day, he has steadfastly contributed more than most. This dedication to his art has stuck with him down through all those years and in many ways supports his creative and forthright view of the tradition. His output is equally impressive with four solo flute albums, a duet recording with Paul O' Shaughnessy and a trio album with Jesse Smith (fiddle) and John Blake (guitar/piano/flute) entitled The Tap Room Trio. He has toured and recorded with Altan and toured with many other leading groups. He also maintains an online uilleann piping diary called The Errant Elbow with close to 200 tunes in its archive. Each comes with notes, variations, alternative settings and commentary demonstrating a man who freely gives back to anyone who cares to listen.

This year he received the Gradam Ceoil TG4 Musician of the Year Award.

DANNY DIAMOND
Danny Diamond is a fiddler, photographer and sound archivist. Danny comes from a musical background – his parents, Dermot and Tara are well-known for their music. He is also a member of the bands and Slow Moving Clouds (formerly Danny & Aki) and Mórga, with whom he released two albums and has performed at numerous music festivals in Ireland and Europe, including The Willie Clancy School, Tonder Festival, Shetland Folk Festival. Danny’s music has been featured on television and radio programmes for BBC, RTÉ and TG4. He lives in Dublin and works for the Irish Traditional Music Archive as a sound archivist and collector.

Danny recorded the album 'Cold Old Fire' for Lynched in August 2013.
