New York house pioneers Metro Area will play their long awaited debut Irish live show this summer. Touring for the first time in over a decade, the duo will be stopping off in Dublin via high profile shows in London, Barcelona's Sonar Festival, The Garden Festival in Croatia, and Berlin's Panorama Bar among many more.

Morgan Geist and Darshan Jesrani dragged house music into the 21st Century by melding Chicago house and Detroit techno with the more organic sounds of disco, boogie and funk to create something truly unique. A series of diverse EP's were released on their Environ label between 1998 and 2001, with the best of these tracks collected on their 2002 self titled debut album, now regarded as a modern classic.

Their music has featured on mix albums by big hitters like Felix Da Housecat and Simian Mobile Disco, as well as more underground heroes like Harvey, Prins Thomas, The Glimmers, Unabombers and Trevor Jackson, to name just a handful.

Their breakthrough track Miura exploded onto dancefloors worldwide and was eventually voted as Resident Advisor's ‘No 1 track of the century so far’ in 2010.
It has been 8 years since the last new Metro Area material - another 3 EP's followed that wondrous debut album - but Morgan Geist and Darshan Jesrani have not been resting on their laurels. Geist's Storm Queen project produced a modern house classic in the form of Look Right Through, and two really well received follow ups have whetted the appetite for a full LP next year. Jesrani has remixed for labels like Moodmusic and Permanent Vacation, and produced an amazing remix of Starlight by neo-disco ensemble Escort. This autumn will see him release a debut solo single for his new Startree imprint. While both men have DJ'd here on numerous occasions, this is the first time their live jam session will make it to these shores.

An amazing night is in store!

The gig will serve as a launch party for ‘Downtownsounds Classics’ Vol. 2, the second in Fatty Fatty Phonographics' series of 12 inch releases celebrating the big tunes at the long running Dublin collective's nights. This will feature a new take on Dinosaur's Kiss Me Again, the famed disco collaboration between Studio 54 legend Nicky Siano, Arthur Russell and David Byrne, as well as a lost classic from Ashley Beedle's Black Science Orchestra project on the flip side.
